What to do and see in Brooklyn

1) Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge

It is the landmark of the place. Who has seen the bridge in the movies of Hollywood? The bridge that crosses the East River is a symbol of the city of New York and also marked a milestone in the history when using for the first time in this type of construction steel and for being the longest suspension bridge in the world for 20 years. While you can find guides that offer its service, the bridge is public so you won’t have to pay to cross it. An average of 4000 people walk on the Brooklyn Bridge every day. The sidewalk is a little over 1.8 kilometers long.

TIP: We recommend walking from Brooklyn to Manhattan where you can see a spectacular view of the skyscrapers. One of the best moments to walk is during the evening.

2) Enjoy the art at the Brooklyn Museum

It is the New York City’s second largest Museum after the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a million and a half of works of art. It is for everyone from ancient Egypt to contemporary art. You can visit from Wednesday to Sunday.

TIP: One of the best ways of know the Museum is to visit at night and with music. The first Saturday of each month, from 5 pm to 10 pm the Museum of Brooklyn opens its doors and offers free shows with different activities as dances, DJs, conferences, movies. The atmosphere is festive and attracts thousands of people. Target First Saturdays are called. 3) Walk through Brooklyn Heights Promenade

It’s a quiet walk with trees, benches and a view of the skyline of downtown Manhattan, and the Brooklyn Bridge and in the distance you will see the statue of liberty. It is the perfect place to get the best views of Manhattan. It can be combined with a walk through the residential neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights with its traditional buildings.

TIP: The best time to go is during the sunset, thus you can appreciate the views during the day and night. At night the area is well lit so it is a safe place for walking.

4) Visit the Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is located about 20 minutes of the center of Manhattan and has 21 hectares of extension. Each year it welcomes 700,000 visitors from not only New York, but around the world. It is a nature break in the middle of the big city.

5) Explore the Prospect Park

With an area of 2.1 km2, it is one of the largest parks of the city. It was created by the architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who also designed the famous Central Park. It offers a large number of events and activities throughout the year.
