Murals by international artists decorate the neighborhood where Messi was born
In the middle of this year was held the First International Meeting of Muralism and Public Art “The future is at stake”, organized by the International Movement of Muralists (MIM) Italo Grassi, together with neighbors with the auspices of the Municipality of Rosario and the Government of the Province of Santa Fe. Within this context, national and international artists painted 32 murals that honor the great Argentine soccer.
This meeting was declared of municipal interest, and there are artists from all over the country, and also from Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, and Chile.
Lionel’s murals can be found in a fifteen-block radius through the streets of Uriburu, Juan Manuel de Rosas, Ayacucho and Ibáñez, forming a veritable open-air museum in the streets where he was born. The slogan was free and open: the only requirement was not to express political flags.
Messi’s face is in several walls, his eyes, the “10” and the ball. The columns, the laces and every corner is painted light blue and white. It is also painted the phrase that says “I am more interested in being a good person than being the best player in the world.”
If you are in Rosario we recommend a tour by “La Bajada”, the neighborhood that was slowly filled with colorful murals that honor Messi with art and passion.
